What the Prices have been up to!

This blogging thing is tough... it takes time to record some of the events that happen in our little family's life! Wish I had more time all together to enjoy them and record the wonderful things we do together... but life is not always that way. Lately I have seen my days go by so quickly and I often wonder what was accomplished. I want to record a few things that we have been doing and that has kept our lives so busy...

  • Prop 8 has been consuming everyone's lives here in California. Our ward has been so good about informing people about it. I have had the opportunity a few times to go door to door and let people know what it is all about. I really had a good response from most everyone. It was a little scary though. I would knock on a door and I would think to myself "oh, please don't be home!" Yes, I know, that is the wrong approach. After getting used to talking to people and educating them about Prop 8, I notice that fear go away. I know this is so important for us, for our nation, for our children, for FAMILIES and mostly for God's plan. I believe Satan's main goal is to destroy the family! I sure hope Prop 8 passes because if it doesn't there will be many tears shed. So many people have put their heart and soul in this. This past week people have been standing at corners with signs. I saw the bishop's wife out there with a home made sign that helped explain to people what prop 8 is all about. (see sample below!) I went out for an hour or so and held signs at Freedom Crest Elementary and for the most part I got a good response there as well. People would honk, and give us the thumbs up yet there were a few shaking there head and fingers at us! We are planning on going out tomorrow and holding signs at a busy intersection. I think Cyrus will be able to go with us this time.
  • PHOTOGRAPHY! Yes, it still consumes me daily. I have to limit myself to computer time. This darn computer just sucks me in every time I walk past it. For those of you who don't know, there is more to photography than just a good camera and lenses (although those things are a lot of fun and help immensely) there is a lot of post processing involved. After every shoot I am so excited to process the pictures and see the possibilities with every memory I captures. The post processing is an art in itself and I hope to become better at it all the time. I really enjoy it and I have a few shoots coming up next week that I am pretty excited about them. Here is a little clip that made me laugh... I have yet to have a shoot like this... but I'm sure I am over due for one!

  • The kids are off track... This takes up quite a bit of my time as well. On Tuesday we finally came up with a schedule. They only get 3 hours of electronics a day (Wii, computer, tv) I know that may sound like a lot to some of you out there... but remember there are 6 kids here and its great because during those 3 hours they have to share all those things and when that time is up... they know they don't ask me if they can play or watch TV. Another rule for those three hours is "don't bug mom time!" I quite like that rule. So far it is working out great. In the morning they all have jobs to get done, then there is reading, playing lego time ect... it's been good for them and good from me. there are a few things I love about it and there are a few things I don't. For starters: I don't have to wake up at 6:30, get kids ready, get kids breakfast, make lunches and get them out the door (happy) by 7:15! The happy part doesn't always happen but I try. The other day Chloe was stalling and kept asking my to find her sun glasses.... I hate it when the kids come up with last minute things they have to do for school. I just don't have the patience nor the time to do that. So I sent her out the door, the others were way ahead of her and so she left crying... but at that point I didn't care. I know, I sound like the meanest mother around. I guess the neighbors think that as well, apparently they saw her and picked her up. I felt kind of bad after that but not that bad. So, anyway, when the kids are off track we tend to wake up much happier with less things to hurry and get done. There is one thing I don't like: "mom, where are we going today?, we don't go anywhere when we are off track!" They don't understand that going on an outing with 6 kids doesn't sound like any fun to me!
  • My Mother came to see me last weekend. Dad had a mission tour in Tijuana last week and so she took a few days to spend with us and the Davis family. It was good to see her and have her in our home. We went to Lowes the day she was hear and picked out some flowers, and palm trees for my yard. It was so much fun. Cyrus has been anxious to make our front yard look nice so he started cutting down trees and planting new ones. I was so happy with the end result. There are still more things I want to add but you all know, "little by little" I post a pic when I have most of it done. We also were privileged to see Aunt Jean and Kylee. They came down the weekend before mom did. My kids love their Aunt Jean. She has so much love and they feel it. She is a wonderful lady who needs someone to love her back (not just cute nieces and nephews!) I hope some day she can remarry and feel that love that comes with a good marriage!
  • Garrett started playing flag football. This gets us out of the house most Tues, Thurs, and Saturdays. He usually has one or two games a week and then practices. He's enjoying it and for the most part we enjoy watching him play and socializing with the other families that are there. The kids especially like it when I remember to bring money for the snack bar!
  • My sweet husband who is so busy has decided to go back to school once again. He applied to the University of Redlands for an MBA. They accepted him and so now is is even more busy. I am so proud of him. He doesn't stop learning. He has such a mind for so many things. If there is something he wants to learn about he reads all he can about it and actually understand is and applies it to his life! He knows education is important and doesn't want to be stuck anywhere in his life... he always wants there to be more doors open for him! He does it so well. I love him dearly!
Well, in a quite lengthy post, here are a few things that have been consuming my life... no, I don't sit at the computer all day long, I do try and get a few things check off my list!
