A few more

Just a few more from the past few days. Cy

Since I (Cyrus) don't have, nor want my own blog, I'll just steal some bandwidth from my wife once in a while and post some of favorite pictures from the past week. It is not that often I get to spend time with my camera, well, it used to be my camera, I think it likes Leanne better now.

Happy Birthday CHARLY!

Yes, it is your day... You are now one. You even get to share this day with your sweet little cousin Erin. We love Erin and miss her. I believe that you and Erin share very similar personalities. Very happy, content and like Erin you draw people to you. I always want you to remember your little Erin because she has taught us all to be better people. I know you'll always have a part of her with you because she has a part of my heart as well. I know I have tried to be kinder, more loving (like real unconditional love), happier, not so judgmental, and.... hopefully a better person all around. I just want to add one specific change I have noticed, that is the significant love I have for the primary children. I loved those kids before but I now love them so much more. Whenever I see them there is a different feeling in my heart. I think if we open our hearts up there is so much more room to love others. Some times we don't think its possible but it's us who sets those limits...

We love you baby Erin!

I wanted to take a minute and write a few things about little Charly that I love.... I might have to add more as i think about it:
  • I love that since she has been able to sit up she will kick her legs out to the side (open and shut) like she is clapping her feet. She doesn't do that as much anymore because she has learned how to walk but it was so darn cute.
  • I love that when she was about 9 months old she was able to stand up on her own but would never attempt to take a step. She would stand forever just looking around.
  • I loved that I could put her down in the middle of the floor and she would be content for hours. She has never been demanding.
  • I love that she gets excited to see her daddy when he comes home. And that she will still rest her head on his shoulder like she is giving him a hug.
  • I love how she goes to sleep in her crib so happy and then wakes up with the same disposition.
  • I love that she will go to anyone. She loves people and knows how to get their attention. She knows they love her as well.
  • I love that she is now curious and explores her surroundings... she found the markers the other day and was fascinated on biting the tips off and getting marker all over her face. She was also very upset when Dad took them away.
  • I love that she loves to play outside with the kids. She will sit on the tether ball tire wanting and waiting til she too is big to be able to play with her big sisters. She is not at all afraid to get dirty either... maybe that's my fault.
  • She loves being with her siblings. She goes where they go. She gets very excited to see them come home from school. I think her favorite right now is Marci. At times she has chosen Marci over her mother. I think that makes Marci pretty happy!

YES! I got response on Fred Miranda

I have to explain... On Fred Miranda you can put up your photographs for critique. There are a lot of GREAT photographers on there and there and a lot of average ones and then there are some really bad ones. I want to become a better one that will at some point in time fall into the GREAT photographer catagory. So, ocasionally I post my pictues to see what others think.
Check this link out... I thought these were decent pictures and I just wanted to hear what other people thought. I was rather sad. Usually if you get no response that means they just weren't very exciting. Nothing great about them... just some random pictures. I've also noticed that if you are quite bad then people will comment to help you improve. These pictures were just blah... I guess....

But then Cyrus taught me this cool processing trick for the boys pictures and I have gotten all sorts of good response from FM.
Check out the link to my pics.

YEAH! I think I'm improving... well, I know I've gotten better but it is so cool to hear about it from others.

HAPPY DAY!

Working on my B&W

Learned a new trick for black and white conversion. I would change them and they looked so flat. I think these are looking so much better. COOL STUFF!

The difference between profiles... sRGB and Prophoto RGB

Weeum and Gant...

Had to post these pictures of my boys... they are just too cute. And I love my camera... it's the best thing ever. My little Liam and Grant love each other. Grant can usually make Liam cry pretty easily but they get along great. Today Liam came home from Kindergarten and just a few minutes later Thomas came and took him away. It broke little Grant's heart. I had to lock the door so he wouldn't chase after them. After a while he went out looking for "Weeum". He loves his big brothers. I am so grateful to have three wonderful boys. But today my camera was focused on my little ones.

This one is pretty typical of the two... yes Liam fell on his head while Grant cheered. Grant still doesn't talk much but he does know how to grunt, make "pium" noises, "I win" and occasionally he whines. But he's pretty darn cute.

I think this last picture is my favorite. Liam is going to be quite the charmer. He is just way too cute... and those eyes are beautiful.

Sunday, August 24, 2008

My husband has for some reason turned into a social butterfly... well, that term makes him sound girly, but he has so many great friends and I love it. He even invites them over quite a bit. Yesterday we had the Raines family over for dinner. I like having people over because it usually means that we will have a good Sunday dinner instead of getting home and eat anything and everything in sight and then forget about making anything decent. So, yesterday we had Jambalaya... for some reason, I make this alot when we have people over. Cyrus loves it, that's probably why. So, yesterday we got to enjoy good company and good food.

Also, church was fabulous (as Sharpe says! HSM) as usual, Sister Stewart talked about how we make our own reality. It's true. If we choose to be sad and depressed about something, then that is what we will experience and if we choose to be happy and not allow difficult circumstances to bring us down, then we will be happy. She did a great job and I really appreciated her message. That is something I have had to work on. Cyrus is very good and reminding me that it is my choice to be happy. AND... I am very happy. I love my life right now. I love being Cyrus's wife... especially since he always calls me "hot chic". And I love being a mother, especially when I do things well. The days that I slack off and don't get everyting done like it needs to be are the days that I'm not as happy with the title of "mom" but most days are great. AND, I love that I have a growing business. I love photographing people and capturing their personalities. I'm working on bringing out real smiles that are relaxed and natural. Here is one from last weeks shoot with the Hydes. And a comp of one of my seniors. I really enjoy putting the compositions together. They take some time and they are a little tricky. I start off with a blank page and after a while or so it all comes together and looks pretty good if I do say so myself!

I need to add one more thing that I love about my life right now. I love serving in the primary. We have about 120 kids that come regularly so it is huge.... but I love being with them and feeling thier love and the sweet spirit that they share. I know that we will probably be released soon so it makes my feelings a little tender towards them. I had a dream that the ward was going to be split (which will probably happen soon) and I cried because we would be loosing half of the primary kids. They truely are a joy to work with. I should also add that I love working with Sister Williams and Sister Hughes and Sister Nelson, they are all wonderful sisters with big hearts and are very capable of many things. I have learned a lot from them and hope I am a better person because of the things I have seen them do.

Life is bliss!

Chloe

I'd like to take a few minutes and write a little something about my Chloe. This morning I woke up late... kids need to be up by 6:30 so they can be out the door by 7:10. This morning I woke up at 7:00. Whenever I am off to a late start I tend to get grumpy, rushed, and needless to say, not very patient. Well, this morning I thought to myself, "don't get to stressed, it's not the end of the world if the kids are late. I might even have to take them in the car, but that's okay." I tried to get started with that sort of attitude. Well, I went upstairs to wake Marci and I found papers scattered about. I knew it was the contents of somebody's Friday backpack. Well, I thumbed through them quickly and saw a book about "Chloe" One of the pages was, "When I grow up, I want to be a ______". Well, my cute Chloe wrote "a mom." This made my day. It almost made me think that I have done a few things right.

Chloe is a very happy girl. She will smile at everyone. When I was little I remember many people telling me how they liked my smile. I think Chloe got that smile from her mother. (at least I like to think so) She loves to play! At the beach we found a big piece of seaweed that her dad turned into a jump rope. She could have jumped rope the entire time we were there if her mothers arm hadn't gotten tired. The Thomas girls really had fun with her as well. She was very cooperative and knew when she messed up that she had to go to the back of the line. She's actually quite good at it. Today at school she had 34 boyfriends. (remember... how many boyfriend do you have... 1,2,3,4...it goes something like that)Yesterday we were out front eating Oatmeal Chocolate Chip bars (which are quite delicious I might add) and she wanted to jump rope some more. She really wanted that seaweed one from the beach but the next best thing her dad could offer her was an extension cord. So we made it work. At first no one wanted to play, they just aren't as good as Chloe is. And Garrett's arm was unable to turn the rope with out getting hurt. (don't ask!) So dad started helping out and others joined in on the fun. At one point Chloe and I were jumping together. She lights up so much when she is given a little bit of attention. I guess we are all like that in a way. I realize I need to try and find my kids strengths and spend some time with each of them.

Beach Day!

Today was a great day. We were suppose to start off by walking around and talking to people about Prop 8 (keeping marriage between a man and a woman). But it got canceled so Cyrus helped out and we cleaned the house. It was great. I have not been very good about getting things super clean lately so the house really needed it. And then this afternoon Janet Sullivan gave us some couches. I love free stuff, especially if it is nice. I thought her used couches were great. I put them up in my bonus room which really makes it nice up there.
At about 1:00 we left for the beach. YEAH... we love going to the beach. We don't do it near enough. We only live about 45 minutes away. We loaded the kids up with the buggy boards and away we went. It was fun. The kids love playing in the water. It was a great day to be at the beach. It wasn't crowded, and the weather was perfect. Charly even got in the water and loved it. It was so cute to see her crawling out to the waves. They only knocked her over once. The kids were out on the boards continually and Liam loved watching grant ride his board in. Cyrus would prop grant up on the board and then he would push him out on a wave. He loved it. He did it over and over. Liam just watched and cheered him on. He knew Grant was having sooo much fun. So, Grant finally said, "okay, Liam's turn" Liam quickly declined. He wanted to continue watching Grant. It wasn't til the end of the day that he finally allowed dad to push him on the buggy board. He actually loved it. I wish I had some pics to post. (especially since I have a 5D) But I don't like taking my camera to the beach, It's too big of an investment to let sand get into it or worse, have someone steal it. So, I left it at home. But all in all it was a great day. Loved the beach. We ended the day with a double double from In and Out. Only 670 calories of pure yummyness!

Great Day!

I had a good day... A few days ago I took some pictures of some Eagle Scouts. Didn't make hardly anything on the deal but I had fun doing it. 5 boys getting there Eagle... that's a lot of hard work and a lot of badges. They did make me laugh though b/c they didn't know how to fold a flag very well.... I think most of the shots turned out great and I hope the mom's were happy. I did reshoot one boy today and I got him to relax a bit more. I think it helped that his buddies weren't staring at him. Well, after the shoot I got an email from one of the boys mothers and she had asked to buy the cd rights. I was very happy... it was nice to make some money off the deal and it is nice to get some positive feedback on my pics. I would really like to be able to look at my pictures with different eyes. (more of an audience)... but all in all they turned out great. I'll have to post a few.

Other news,
I went to the kids back to school night last night. I was nice to finally meet there teachers. Marci stayed home and babysat. ( I love that I can trust here doing that!). I met all of the teachers and Cyrus showed up and met a few of them as well. I was so happy to see my cute hubby there. He's a pretty awesome guy... I like him quite a bit!
The kids are doing well. I am so glad I don't have to worry about them.
Today I sat down and read to my little boys. I need to do that more often. Karen gave me the "make way for ducklings" book quite a while ago and I finally read it to my boys. They listened very carefully. I loved it and so did they. I am going to try and make a better effort at that.
Well, got to get to bed.
life is good!

A Father's blessing.

The kids started school August 6 of last week, so for FHE Dad gave them their back to school blessings. It started off by talking about what a blessing is, what the preisthood is, when you get it... etc. He is always so good at explaining and teaching our children gospel principles. I added my words of "Always be grateful and appreciate that your dad has the priesthood. It's a hugh blessing in your lives. Not everybody's daddy gets to give thier children a blessing that will help them." We started with Liam. He was so excited. He loves being in school. I've worried that he is too young, and he still might be but I know he loves it and is a good boy at school. It's so nice that I don't have to worry about it. I may do this in list form of a few things daddy blessed him with:
  • I bless you to be happy.
  • You love to learn.
  • Bless you to understand those things quickly.
  • Bless you to enjoy learning and have fun with your teacher.
  • Bless you with a quick mind, to understand and be smart.
  • Be a good example and always to those things that are right. Be in the right place and say the right things.
  • Come home and share the joy with your mother.
  • Bless you to grow up and start taking responsibilities.
  • Learn and help those around you.
He was so happy. The rule in our house is that after a blessing you have to give dad a big hug!
I sat there and listened to my wonderful husband give his children direction from God and was so grateful for my family and lives we have. I looked at all my little ones and they sat there so reverently, they know how important the priesthood is. Even Grant sat there very attentive and listened.

Next was Garrett:
Dad asked him if he needed any specific blessing, He thought for a minute and said, "maybe division". The faith they have is wonderful.

  • Your Father in Heaven is very happy with you. He knows you try hard, work hard, you are kind and are always willing to help.
  • Keep good thoughts in you mind.
  • Bless you to remember to speak kindly to family and friends.
  • Always be honest in the small and big things.
  • Your mind has an incredible capacity to learn, therefore you should help others understand those things being taught.
  • Be a teacher.
  • Be a good example, others will look to you and know which way to act.
  • Always to do those things that are right.
Chloe:
  • Heavenly Father loves you and is very happy with you.
  • Always remember to be happy.
  • You are a happy soul, you make others feel good.
  • Always be that way, help others feel good, tell them how much you like them.
  • Be a good example.
  • You are good at loving people as you try to be kind and not shy, you will have many friends. Always choose good friends.
  • I bless you to understand the things your teacher teaches you.
  • Bless you with a quick mind that you will be able to learn those things required of you.
  • Help and bless those around you.
  • Always smile and be happy.
Marci: She specifically asked that she would be able to make more friends.
  • Heavenly Father is pleased with the things you do.
  • He knows the desires of your heart and the kindness you have.
  • Marci, you have great abilities, your mind is strong and has a great ability to learn and understand.
  • Bless you that you might beging to understand the gospel and it will help you understand how you should bring those prinicples into your life.
  • You are happy. Hevenly Father reminds you that there is a time to be happy and a time to be reverent. I bless you to know the difference.
  • I bless you to be a comfort and a help to toheres. See others needs and never be too busy or shy to help people who need you.
  • Be a good influence to those around you.
  • Always remember those things you know are right.
  • Follow the gospel and you will have joy.
  • I bless you to be led to special friends that will help you. You will grow very close to them.
Grant had waited long enough. He knew it was finally his turn. He climbed up on the chair, closed his eyes very tight and folded his arms. He sat there very still and quiet. I was so happy to see my little boy "getting it".
  • You are a sweet spirit.
  • There are great things Heavenly Father has for you to do.
  • Be happy and joyful.
  • Bless you with the desire to learn of Jesus and Heavenly Father.
  • Have fun, and be a good example.
  • Follow your siblings. Do the things you see them do, they will do what is right.
  • Even though you are little, your spirit will feel those things that are right. Those things will make you happy.
I love my little family.
